Cadences: Musical Punctuation
Music speaks in sentences. And like any sentence, a musical phrase needs punctuation.
In this lesson you'll
- Learn the four classic cadences.
- Hear how they differ.
- Use them to write a question and an answer.
Remember
Five to one is the full stop. Four to one is the softer amen.
Stopping on five is a comma. Five to six is a surprise.
Pair a question with an answer, just like Ode to Joy.
